Inside the app

Discover, book, and hand off — one flow

Captured product screens covering discovery, an item's booking card, and the messaging that carries a rental through to handoff.

  1. Discover by map or list

Items and services are browsable by category or by location, priced in the app's coin economy.

  2. Book with the details in view

Availability, distance, rating, and lender reviews sit on the same screen as the booking action.

  3. Coordinate the handoff

In-app messaging keeps pickup, return, and any changes between lender and borrower in one thread.

The challenge

A reservation is only part of a rental.

Peer-to-peer rental platforms usually bolt booking onto a generic marketplace template and leave lenders and borrowers to coordinate the actual handoff outside the app. Zuyu needed discovery, scheduling, and the physical exchange of goods handled as one connected flow, not three disconnected tools.

The experience

From finding an item to returning it.

  1. Discover an item

  2. Choose the dates

  3. Arrange the booking

  4. Pickup & handoff

  5. Return the item

A simplified map of the product journey.

What we built

Discovery, booking, and the physical handoff.

We built Zuyu as a React and TanStack Router frontend on a Supabase backend, covering the full lifecycle: map and list-based discovery with price, distance, and category filters; date-range booking; a structured pickup, handoff, and return process between lender and borrower; an in-app coin wallet with messaging and notifications; and a community feed to keep the marketplace feeling social rather than transactional.

Discovery around real context

Map and list views, with price, distance, and category filters, give people different ways to find a suitable item.

Booking continues into the physical exchange

The pickup, handoff, and return stages form part of the product flow, alongside the date-based reservation.

The conversation stays connected

Messaging, notifications, a coin wallet, and a community feed support the people participating in the marketplace.
